The Sanger High Halloween Costume Contest is an annual event that happens every Halloween or day adjacent to it if it falls on a weekend. Students and teachers participate in who has the best costume. The contest takes place in the quad area during lunch.

There are various costumes that can be seen in genres like horror, comedy, and action. Some examples are Jason from Friday the 13th, Mickey Mouse or even John Wick. This event always gets the crowd riled up.

To start off the event, the K-pop club performed a terrifying Halloween dance for the crowd.

Activity director, Ronnie Scott, was in charge of this event and gave four categories for 5 judges to vote on. The categories were “scariest,” “funniest,” “most creative,” and “best group/duo.”

Winning “best group/duo” was Julia Contente and Joey Munoz. Using ideas from the movie Up, they created matching costumes. Winning scariest costume was Brandon Soto as Michael Meyers from Halloween. Winning the funniest was a hot Cheeto bag costume. And finally, the most creative winner was Anthony Diaz as Joker from Batman.

Although these are the winners for best in each category, there should be recognition for many other great costumes seen there. For example, the puppet from Five Nights at Freddys, Princess Peach from the Mario series, Deku from My Hero Academia, and Penguin from Batman

There was a variety of costumes to choose from in each category.

The Halloween contest is an important part of Sanger High and it connects  students and teachers by having them dress up and show off their spooky spirit.
