Sanger High School has over 70 active clubs for students to join. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Club, is a student-run association on mental health and is a nationwide organization. The NAMI club has opened many opportunities for students who experience complications or mental health issues. The Nami club meets every other Wednesday in the school’s library. The club provides a safe space for discussions, support, and access to many resources to help students who experience mental health issues.
Nami promotes student to student interactions when dealing with mental health issues. By creating an environment for students to openly share their experiences and concerns, “ Nami provides a safe space to talk about mental health without judgment,” says Nami club advisor Katherine Tiburqio she added , “Please join, it’s a safe space and a great way to connect with other students.”
Beyond providing a supportive community, the NAMI Club also focuses on education and self advocacy. They organize workshops, invite speakers, and participate in national NAMI campaigns to raise awareness about mental health conditions. By encouraging students with knowledge and resources, the club’s goal for the 2025 – 2026 school year is to encourage students to be more compassionate and understanding.
Nami club member Daniela N. claims, “being apart of the NAMI club has made me more engaged and want to help other students on their well being, I highly encourage other students to join you will not regret it,” Daniela tells in an interview trying to encourage other Sanger High students.
