Sanger High students and teachers have their own opinions on how much they enjoy the cool beginning of the fall season. They love getting into fall fashion, seasonal class lessons, and everything that follows the season both in and out of school.
As we enter fall, we asked teachers on the Sanger High campus how they feel about the upcoming season.
Elison Baird, an 11th-grade AP English teacher, says that as a teaching tradition, she and her students read the gothic novel The Scarlet Letter and the ghost story Beloved. She also likes to change the feel of her classroom by switching the scent in her diffuser to something more fall-like. Baird adds that she “loves a great ambience of YouTube videos” to display in the background of her classroom.
Justin Norris, a 10th-grade English teacher, says that he starts decorating “right away” and keeps them up all the way through Halloween, believing that his classroom is “a home away from home.” Norris also thinks pumpkin spice is overrated. He enjoys the scent of pumpkin but not pumpkin-flavored foods—except pumpkin pie. As for Norris’ fall drink of choice, he prefers a good old apple cider.
Teachers love to teach and decorate according to the season, but students love to dress for it—embracing their fall basics and traditions they look forward to every year at Sanger High.
Senior Olive Powell says she loves her fall traditions, especially visiting “cute pumpkin patches” with her family—one of her favorite things to do when fall comes around. She also enjoys how the mood changes with the smell and feel of the season. Powell loves everything from the nature around us to the small cafés that turn their environments into cozy fall spaces. As the weather begins to change, she says it feels “so fresh, its perfect weather!”
Sophomore Sofia Diaz shared her fall essentials: “brown boots, tights, and knit-color sweaters.” Diaz loves these three fall staples because they go with everything in her closet and with the cooler weather. She’s also a Gilmore Girls fan—watching the show every year to get cozy fall vibes. As the upcoming Autumn season comes around, be on the lookout for fall fashion.
