Praetorian Water Polo is a Junior High to High School year round water polo club where athletes can play water polo on an all-star team based in Fresno County. It is only available during the offseason.. Praetorian Water Polo club is all about working closely with high school and junior high athletes. The club has helped the athletes stay in shape during the off season and improve their skills.
“Attending Praetorian has helped me gain a better understanding of the game as I get so much experience through the coaches and playing time. It has improved my teamwork as it has helped me learn my role on a team and how to be a better teammate,” says junior Eliot Vilanova.
Senior, Ryan Nasalroad says. “Attending Praetorian year round has helped not only improve my skills but also my teamwork and chemistry with my teammates by playing together.”
The coach of the praetorian team, Milorad Pavlovic says, “This sport is great for self confidence. It’s a physical sport and there is a lot of contact. Athletes are constantly tested and only the toughest and the strong minded people end up being successful.”
The premise of the club is to work closely with high school and junior high teams. The Praetorian is open four days a week, Monday-Thursday for 2 hours a day. 5 PM-7 PM on Monda
ys and Wednesdays, and 5:45 PM-7:45 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. These take place at the Sanger High and Clovis East school swimming pool.
Pavlovic also mentions, “Being a coach on the Praetorian staff means that you have to buy into the culture and you need to have certain core values that are embedded in the club meaning you have to work well with others, share ideas, and trust other coaches,”
They hire the best local coaches to coach their athletes and put a lot of emphasis, value, and pride into it. They host the biggest water polo events in the valley including the California Super League, Hardcore Cup, Yellow Ball Classic, and California State Challenge. They add new teams and new coaches every year including Sanger, Reedley, Bullard, Clovis East, WAMS, Clovis West, Clark, Kastner, Clovis High, Kingsburg, Sierra, Edison, Madera, Tulare Western, Reyburn, Porterville, etc.
They do international play exchanges and send athletes to college every year. This new program is now a real force in the world of water polo.
