Sanger High’s Associated Student Body team is run by the school’s Activities Director, Ronnie Scott. Scott has been running ASB here at Sanger High for 21 years. As many students know, the ASB team is what runs the school activities. They plan, design and make these special events come to life. For these events however, there is special planning that takes place for it.
According to Scott, “We discuss the events in early summer, then bring them back to the class. Major events such as Homecoming are planned well in advance, and then as it gets closer, the reps and I meet and make sure all the items on our massive checklist are completed.” These events take time to plan out and there are a lot of people behind it.
“The students put in a lot of time, on top of all their studies and co-curricular activities,” adds Scott.
ASB is a class that leads students to work together as a team. You get close with the other members which helps you make lifelong friends.
As ASB Senior president Emily Martinez says, “Being a part of ASB is a huge honor and responsibility. We are such a tight group of friends outside of school, which makes planning events fun and collaborative.”
Martinez is the current president of ASB and has quite a bit of experience when it comes to running the events. Martinez’s favorite event to host is homecoming, because as she states,“My favorite part is the skit performances put on by each class.” She shares that students in ASB is a fun class that gets you involved with everything that is going on at your school. “It is a great high school experience that will create memories for all of the people involved that will be cherished forever,” Martinez states.
“ASB helps to create so many strong relationships with other students and even with advisors. It is truly a rewarding feeling to be in this program,” adds ASB 12th grade member Madison Conway.
ASB is not only a class, but a good tradition here at Sanger high and continues to be offered to any student who wants to be more involved with their school.
Martinez adds, “I recommend joining ASB because the class introduces you to all of the events on campus. Being part of the program helps you make your mark on Sanger High.”
Conway also adds, “I think this class is something that is so amazing to experience especially as a freshman. This class has given me so many people skills and taught me how to interact with people I don’t know. It has truly allowed me to come out of my shell and not be afraid.”
ASB class continues to encourage student involvement with Sanger High, while creating lifelong memories. You get to learn the events that go on in Sanger High and be a part of the full school spirit as an Apache
