The fall season has started. The active sports are football, girl’s tennis, boy’s water polo, girl’s water polo, girl’s golf, girl’s volleyball, cross country and cheer. The new season started with wins for several of the Sanger High teams and many coaches are ready to finish the season strong.
“We want to finish our season on a high note and play our best tennis when it matters the most,” Jeremy Warkentin, tennis coach, says.
The football season started off with the varsity team winning against Dinuba with a score of 41-7.
“What makes a great team is making a big entrance and working as a great team,” said Matt Logue, head coach.
What makes these big wins is “being able to count on one another and trust each other and hold each other accountable,” said Logue.
Cross country coach, Sean Marzolf, is one of coaches who agreed with Logue when he said that one of the most important parts of working as a team is
“accountability and communication.”
A few of the teams have new players this year, the girls’ water polo team coach Kellie Sanders says
“There is an average amount of new players this year,”
Another team with new players is the tennis team.
“Yes we have 25 girls total on the team. Our varsity team is full of returners, but we have a lot of new players on JV,” Warkentin said.
The football team also has new players,
“We have a good mix of returning players and some new players,” Logue said.
To get the most out of their players, coach provide inspirational messages to their respective teams.
“They should strive to be the best student-athletes and their focus should always be on their next shot,” said girls’ golf coach, Preston Montelongo.
“There is no magic formula to success in life or sports. Showing up every day and working on your craft is all that you need,” Milorad Pavlovic, boys water polo says.
