The Advanced Digital Media Internship Class, also known as Apache Graphicss, is a digital media class at Sanger High School that gives students an opportunity to gain professional experience and practice student-led enterprises. The class takes requests from the Sanger community and works to produce projects like promotional videos, photography, graphic design, and posters for events. To create such projects, students use a variety of Adobe apps such as Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Adobe Fresco, and Lightroom. This class helps students who have completed their concentration class in the Digital Arts and Media Pathway and gives them an opportunity to demonstrate skills in a real-world scenario.
Senior Luna Vazquez says, “Personally, I’m looking forward to creating design and photography projects, as those are my strong suits,” explained Vazquez, a current member of Apache Graphicss. The students’ first project was requested by Mrs. Pearson, a former photography teacher at Sanger High School. The prompt was to create a photo collage for herself using the pictures she provided.
When asked what practice is provided for students, senior Evan Her responded, “We are given tools like Photoshop and Premiere Pro to practice our skills in production for our clients.” The second-period class was required to make practice projects such as business cards, a personal logo, and the logo for their very own Apache Graphicss class.
The instructor helping lead Apache Graphicss this year is Mr. Gray. “To emulate a real working environment, deadlines are set, and students are expected to hit those deadlines on projects to satisfy the customer’s time,” stated Gray. Mr. Gray started his teaching journey at Sanger High School in the 2024–2025 school year. He taught journalism, photography, and video production before adding Apache Graphicss this year.
