The homecoming dance this year took place on September 21, 2024. Homecoming has always been a special event that both students and staff look forward to. Homecoming isn’t just about dancing though, the homecoming floats are also a big part of this event. The homecoming floats this year were displayed during activity the day before the dance. The homecoming floats are run by Activities Director, Ronnie Scott.
“We deliver trailers to various sites a few weeks before the event. Students and adults then construct the floats and start working on their performance. Grade level officers and volunteers from each grade put together the float and skits,” states Scott. In past years, the floats have been displayed more later in the year, usually around October.

“We were really early in the year this year, and still managed to put together a successful event,” says Scott.
Not only does homecoming focus on the dance and floats, but we mustn’t forget the homecoming royalty. Homecoming royalty for the Sanger High School year of 2024-2025, goes to Micah Cole as homecoming king and Zoe Oregon as homecoming queen.
“Winning homecoming queen was genuinely one of the best experiences I’ve had and I am very glad I was a part of it. Everyone on court was super sweet and it was cool to be a part of something like this! It’s definitely a moment I will cherish forever,” says homecoming queen, Zoe Oregon.
“I got nominated by a couple of my peers and thought it’d be a great experience.” says homecoming king, Micah Cole.
Both of our homecoming royalty have big plans for their final year in high school and plan to make the most of it.
“I plan on spending my time with the ones closest to me,” adds Cole.
“I’m planning on staying busy with things I will only get to ever get to do in high school such as soccer, track and all the senior events,” mentions Oregon.

Winning homecoming king and queen is a once in a lifetime opportunity and experience. As Oregon states, “If you are nominated, have fun with the entire process. Be yourself! You only get this experience once in your life, so make the most of it,”
As the 2024-2025 school year continues, homecoming will remain as a forever memory for both students and staff. So much work and thought has been put into this special event including ASB, school staff and all of the students who voted for their homecoming royalty. Homecoming is truly an event that will make its mark in Sanger High.
